Restaurants in Abisko

Abisko is all about simplicity and that applies to the food as well.

You won’t find endless restaurant options here, but what you will find are a few reliable, high-quality places that do their job really well. With a little bit of planning, eating in Abisko can be easy, enjoyable, and even an unexpected highlight of your trip!

Brasserie Fjällköket

If you’re planning a special meal during your stay, this is our favourite spot.

Brasserie Fjällköket focuses on locally sourced, seasonal ingredients, with dishes inspired by the surrounding landscape. Here you’ll find Arctic char, moose, and cloudberries on the menu. Flavours that feel very much tied to Abisko itself.

The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious, but the food is thoughtfully prepared and memorable. While it’s especially well known for dinner, they also offer delicious breakfasts and lunches, making it a great option at different times of day if you’re staying nearby.

One thing to keep in mind: it’s a popular spot, so booking in advance is a good idea, especially during busier periods.

Bistro Storstugan

Sometimes, all you want after a day outdoors is something simple and satisfying.

Bistro Storstugan is perfect for that. With homemade burgers, pizzas, and other casual dishes, it’s a relaxed place where you can drop in without needing to plan ahead. It’s a great option to keep in mind for flexible, no-fuss meals and drinks.

Restaurant Kungsleden

Restaurant Kungsleden is the most versatile choice in Abisko, offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner all in one place.

Set at STF Abisko Turiststation located about a 30 minute walk from the village, it also comes with beautiful views over Lake Torneträsk and the surrounding mountains.

Here’s how it fits into your day:

  • Breakfast: A generous buffet to start your day
  • Lunch: A convenient buffet with a mix of traditional Swedish dishes with vegetarian options.
  • Dinner: A more structured meal where booking ahead is recommended

Restaurant Lapporten

If you have your own car, Restaurant Lapporten is well worth considering if only for the setting alone. This restaurant is located inside Hotel Fjället in Björkliden, approximately 15-minutes from Abisko village.

With views of the iconic Lapporten valley and surrounding mountains, it’s one of those places where you’ll want to sit a little longer than planned.

The menu is built around Arctic ingredients and seasonal flavours, making it a great spot for both lunch and dinner. Whether you’re stopping in to refuel after a day outdoors or settling in for a more relaxed evening meal, it fits both occasions well.

A Lounge menu is also available in the lobby area, perfect for something lighter in a more casual setting.

A Few Helpful Tips

To make things as smooth as possible during your stay:

  • Double-check opening hours
They can vary depending on the season, especially in spring and autumn.
  • Consider booking dinner in advance
Options are limited, and tables can fill up quickly.
  • Think about location
Where you’re staying can affect which restaurants are within walking distance.
  • Plan loosely, not rigidly
A bit of awareness goes a long way, but there’s no need to over-plan.

If you’d prefer more freedom, choosing accommodation with a fully equipped kitchen can make your stay even easier.

Our Abisko Panorama House and Lovely House in Abisko both offer a private kitchen, which is ideal if you want to eat on your own schedule or wind down with a quiet evening in. If you are staying at our Abisko Hostel, a neat shared kitchen is available for cooking.

The local grocery store, Godis Fabriken, is just a short walk away, so picking up ingredients is simple and convenient.

The Bottom Line

Eating in Abisko is straightforward once you know what to expect. A little planning helps, but it never needs to feel complicated.

With a mix of memorable dining, casual options, and the flexibility to cook for yourself, you’ll have everything you need to stay well-fed while focusing on what really matters: enjoying your time in this incredible place!
